How to Turn on/off Full-Screen Mode in Edge Browser – Guide
Microsoft Edge is the most popular web browser on Windows 10. It has replaced Google Chrome as the second most popular option after Firefox. In April 2017, Windows 10 Creators Update highlighted Microsoft Edge features and functionality improvements, but not everyone was happy with Edge’s advances. One of their complaints was the lack of full-screen preview and that, unlike Chrome in Edge, pressing the F11 key did nothing. However, Edge updates fixed this and users can now enter and exit fullscreen mode by pressing F11. There are actually three options for using fullscreen mode:
- Fullscreen: Press F11 to enter fullscreen mode.
- Exit Fullscreen: Press Esc to leave fullscreen mode.
- Customize Fullscreen: Change how fullscreen mode works by changing three settings: “Window size”, “Window opacity”, and “Window position”.
Microsoft Edge fullscreen mode is different from maximizing browser windows. In full screen mode, Edge hides the desktop taskbar and browser toolbars when enabled. Hitting the space bar brings up the address bar and toolbar again until the mouse pointer is offscreen.
Enabling and Disabling Full Screen Mode in the Edge Browser
Use the F11 toggle
To use Microsoft Edge in full-screen mode, first open the Edge browser. You can do this from the start menu. Once open, press F11 on your keyboard to go fullscreen, no matter if the browser is maximized or just taking up part of the screen. When pressing F11 key combination, it switches to full screen mode. When exiting full screen, press F11 on your keyboard again as F11 acts as a toggle.
Use the zoom menu in Edge
- Open the Edge browser and click on the Zoom button in the top left corner.
- Scroll down to the “Zoom Settings” section and click on the “Full Screen” button.
- The full screen mode will be enabled and you can use the other tools in Edge to work as you normally would.
Open the Edge browser and explore its features.
The Settings and more option in the Firefox browser window opens a drop-down menu that allows you to change the following:
- The default search engine for Firefox
- The default browser extension for Firefox
- The default homepage for Firefox
To zoom in on a specific area of the image, position the mouse pointer over the Zoom option and select the Magnifying Glass icon. It looks like a small camera. ..
To exit full screen mode, move the cursor to the top of the screen and select the double arrow icon.
