How to Start a Slack Video Call – Guide

Slack is introducing a voice calling feature that allows up to 15 people to chat at the same time for businesses on paid Slack plans. Free users can only make direct calls. Video calling will roll out in the coming days and will be available in the latest apps for Windows and Mac, as well as Chrome.

Mobile app users can participate in video calls, but they can only talk and listen - videos never end. To use it, just access it wherever you want, whether on your computer or your mobile phone. All you have to do is go to the direct message and press the flame icon and then the button camera icon to activate it as a video call. ..

How to Start a video call in Slack

If you’re using the Slack Free version, you can start DM video calls with another member. That way, you don’t have to use another video conferencing app to discuss work-related or private topics with someone in the workspace.

In your computer:

Launch the Slack desktop app or visit the web browser client and sign in to your workspace.

In the sidebar on the left, click on the conversation (DM) with the person you want to call.

This will open a call window with the current conversation.

Once the person accepts your call request, you can talk to them through the microphone. If you want to use the camera, toggle the Video during call option.

On your phone:

Open Slack on your device and log in to your account.

Open the chat app and type in the person’s name. Tap on their name to call them. ..

This will call your contact.

After initiating the call, you can turn on the camera and see both the front and rear view mirrors.
