How to Share Sticky Notes Between PC – Guide

You can easily share notes between computers with different operating systems by using Sticky Notes 3.0+. Last year, Microsoft released Sticky Notes (3.0) with the updated October 2018 update. This new version of Sticky Notes has some interesting features such as dark mode, format and search function. In addition, it offers the ability to sync notes between computers, Android phones and another iPhone. If you are not familiar with Sticky Notes, read our introduction to this software for more information.

To share and sync Sticky Notes with another Windows 10 computer, you need to sign in to Sticky Notes 3.0+ with a Microsoft account on both computers for Sticky Notes to automatically appear on the new device. Note, however, that changes made to one computer will affect other computers as well, as the synchronization process is still in progress. Unfortunately, Sticky Notes cannot do this by default. It just saves your notes per user account. However, with a little hacking, you can sync your notes across multiple users and computers. This guide show yourself how to Knife. ..

close sticky notes

If you keep Sticky Notes open, the entire procedure will fail. Make sure you are closed on all user accounts for which you want to perform this procedure.

Configure Windows / File Explorer to show hidden files and folders

Sticky Notes saves your data in a hidden folder that is not shown by Windows Explorer on Windows 7 or File Explorer on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. To find it, you need to enable “Show hidden files, folders and drives” in Windows / File Explorer. If you want to use Sticky Notes on a computer that has been upgraded from an earlier version of Windows, you may need to enable “Show hidden files, folders and drives” in the Windows / File Explorer settings first. There are several tutorials available online that can help you do this: one can be found here: How to enhance Windows and File Explorer using Folder Options. ..

Back up your sticky notes

To create a backup of your Sticky Notes, open Windows File Explorer and go to “C: Users Your Username AppData Roaming Microsoft Sticky Notes”. Be sure to replace “Your username” with the name of your user accounts. Then copy the file named StickyNotes.snt to a USB drive or another folder on your Windows device. All your notes are saved in that file.

Download and run Steam Mover

Steam Mover is an application created by Paul Traynier to help you move your Steam games from the “C:” drive to another partition and folder. However, it can also be successfully used for our purpose of syncing Sticky Notes. The app uses NTFS junction points – a more complex Windows system feature which is used by Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, which allows creating symbolic links between folders found in different locations. Creating such symbolic links involves using the Command Prompt and understanding many complicated terminology and commands.

Steam Mover is an amazing tool that eliminates all the complexity and anyone can work with it without too many problems. When running the Steam Mover, be sure to right-click (or hold) it and click/tap “Run as administrator”.

On the left side of the Steam Mover window, where it says “SteamAppsCommonFolder”, select the folder where Sticky Notes currently saves your data: “C: Users Your Username AppData Roaming Microsoft”. Be sure to replace Your username with the actual username. Do not select the Sticky Notes subfolder, only its main one – the Microsoft folder. You will soon see why.

I want to save my notes to “D:OneDrive Sticky Notes” so that my notes are synced not only between local users but also across my different Windows devices with the help of my OneDrive account.
